Samsung INNOV8 i8510 Launched - India

The heavy duty Pixon Camera phone from Samsung christened i8510 INNOV8 has been launched in India. The phone has been developed for users to get the best Multimedia experience from their mobile device. Its Samsung’s 8MP Symbian OS v9.3 Series60 3rd Edition FP2 device for great application support. There is a lot to the handset other than its 8MP. I provide you with a link to the detailed specs. A quick briefing of the INNOV8 features include an 8MP camera with functions like smile shot, blink shot, and face recognition. It also has image stabilization, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), and Auto-Panorama. Videos can be recorded at either QVGA 120fps or VGA 30fps. The i8510 on the visual entertainment front has a 2.8-inch 16M color TFT screen and supports various video formats including DivX, H.263, H.264, WMV and MP4. Audio for the INNOV8 comes with high end DNSe 2.0, it has an FM Tuner as well. The phone will come pre-loaded with two movies and games on its 16GB of internal memory. Connectivity sees no shortcomings with Wi-Fi, High Speed 7.2 MBps HSDPA support, and Class 12 GPRS & EDGE. It has A-GPS and supports geo-tagging as well. The specified talktime with the i8510 with its 1200 mAh battery is 8.5 hours. This innovative package from Samsung is available in India for a whopping Rs. 45,999 MRP.

Blackberry Services Ban Feared

Earlier the Indian government asked Research in Motion (RIM) to provide a way to decrypt Blackberry messages. The government gave a deadline; 31st Mar, else Blackberry services would be terminated. Now there has been a turn of events and the government has asked all telecom companies to have security systems in place to decrypt Blackberry messages; else a complete ban on the service. The time allotted to the companies is 15days. There are over 400 thousand users of Blackberry devices who would be affected. The Department of Telecom (DoT) has issued directives to telecom service providers to work out specifics of how to provide full-proof security with concerned RIM Canada officials. The final outcome of these talks will unfold along with passing time over the next couple of weeks.

Palm Centro Launched

Centro

Today Palm launched their latest offering, the Centro. The phone features a bit of a trendy design with a two tone body color and curved edges. It sports a large touchscreen display and a full QWERTY keypad, also seen the previous offering from Palm - the Treo 750 & 680. The Centro and the Treo 680 also share the same Operating System (OS), the Palm OS 5.4.9. GPRS & EDGE are the data connectivity options the phone has to offer. It has Bluetooth v1.2 and supports A2DP profile. The Palm Centro is priced at an MRP of Rs.13,990.
