Mozilla urges users to hep make a Guinness book world record!
Mozilla is readying itself to enter the Guinness book of world records for the maximum software downloads in a day! A new page on the Mozilla Web site says that Firefox 3 will launch very soon, and that they’re even urging users to download the software to set the record for the software most downloaded within 24 hours of its launch.At present, developers are asking users to pledge that they will download the software as soon as it is released. You too can make your pledge (that is if you want to) by clicking here. Mozilla claims that as of now, the total number of pledges exceeds 253,928 while the total number of pledges from India is a little over 3,000.
Firefox 3 is claimed to have more than 14,000 changes vis-a-vis Firefox 2. The new browser is claimed to be the fastest Firefox ever. According to Mozilla, the browser has been downloaded from its Web site for more than 563 million times since it’s introduction.
Smooth fring chatting on the iPodtouch
Following the awesome success of fring on iPhone and the many users who also downloaded fring onto their iPod touch (even though it was not designed for it), you asked and we delivered… fring has been tweaked for smoother, better chat on the iPod touch! (using the iPhone version….lol)
Just like the original version created for the iPhone, this is the same special pre-release R&D version with some chat bugs fixed so now you can mobile internet chat & interact in fring-style on your iPod touch (I know I am stating the obvious… but as there is no Microphone the iPod touch…. it means no fring calls as well).

P.S. Thanks for your flood of requests pushing us to optimize fring for iPhone so it works better on the iPod touch too - please keep your suggestions and feedback coming! We love the challenge and our R&D team doesn’t really need to sleep anyway. 
Taiwanese fring blog!
On the 26th of May we went live with a new localised blog and its one for our Taiwanese fringsters.
We are pleased to welcome Jason Chen and CH Wang to the fring team, they will be blogging for all our Taiwanese friends. So now, we have a blog that speaks from the eastern side of the globe as well. Its really great to have you guys join the community. Welcome once again! Keeping fringing all the way guys.

Congratulations to the fring team, the developers, and to us all for loving fring with constant support and best wishes. fring has emmerged the winner in The Handset Application Award category at the prestigious Meffys 2008 that happened at Cannes.
Updated fring version for iPhone (pre-release v. 0.9785)
News for ya iPhone users out there. Firstly we’d like to thank you for your valuable feedback, we have started ‘ironing out’ bugs in the fring for iPhone pre release version.
There is a new version for you to play with (version 0.9785) which addresses the following:
1. Issues resulting in deleted SMS (additional QA work on our side still in progress)
2. Incoming SIP calls are also available with this new version
Important: to update your fring version DO NOT uninstall current version (well you can, but then you will need to retype your fring login information) Simply go to the ‘installer’ and get the updated fring version from the ‘updates’ section.
Again, your feedback, suggestions and insights on the product are a huge help, and are truly influencing the R&D process, and helping us in improving fring for iPhone.
Keep those suggestions flowing in … we are glad to address them all.
Blackberry going “Flip” ?
BoyGeniusReport has leaked photos of the soon to be announced Blackberry Kickstart (codename); a flip phone from Blackberry. It is surprising to see the business oriented handset manufacturer RIM has slipped to the flip side of phones. The Kickstart will feature the TrackBall navigation and a similar looking keypad like seen on the Pearl series from RIM. Let’s wait for this to get official.
