Can i make a call from Gtalk sitting on my PC to a mobile phone in India having fring installed, free of cost?
Do I require any additional setups for it?

    Thnx in adv..

  8. Yes you can make a call form a Gtalk to a mobile phone with fring installed for free. All you need is a net connection for your PC and a the handset which has fring installed need to have GPRS activated to use the service.

  13. Hello,
When will Fring be supported on Nokia 9300/9500.

    Comment by Raish — October 1, 2007 #

  14. To Mohit
Since You are using Airtel Live you won’t be able to use fring. But don’t worry, please contact Airtel Customer Care or an Airtel Gallery and ask for “Airtel GPRS/EDGE Settings” maybe your scheme will change or you could request to be on the same scheme.
    Regards,
    Frazier.

    Comment by Deepak Mazumdar — October 16, 2007 #

  16. Hey Deepak,

All you’ll need to do is call Customer Care and request them to activate mobile internet usage on phone as well as laptop/desktop. Once done you’ll be able to use fring. Also I’d like to bring to your notice that at the moment the internet on your phone allows you to only access web content through Hutch (now Vodafone). Once you do the activation then you’ll be able to directly access web content instead of going through the Vodafone access.

I want to use ‘fring’ in india (hyderabad) after coming from US. I do not know which would be the best service and plan to go with in terms of speed/connection first, then money. Just to name, is there anything I can do with Reliance connection or with Idea?
I would be thankful if you give me some comparision for good providers.

you can press talk button and call them free.

my question to folks in india..

how much does edge plan cost in india..if u had airtel…and is it cheaper than what you would pay for internet ( for a computer) ?

as i got friends there..but i wanted to tell them to get fring..but i was not sure how much cost in india would be.

    thanks

  25. Hey folks,

I just got my Net Over Phone enabled and activated on my 6630 handset. I believe that is GRPS activated :). I am able to browse through web pages. But am having trouble getting fring to work.

I select the NOP access point to begin with and it fails with the message - ‘Failed, go to automatic search for Access Points?’. Then it report ‘Searching for best access point’ goes though all of them and even fails for the NOP connection - “Can’t find a valid access point, contact fring support” :(.

I verified the access point settings for NOP and
noticed that the Access Point Name is airtelwap.com. Going through the previous posts I noticed the following - “at the moment the internet on your phone allows you to only access web content through Hutch (now Vodafone)”

Could it be that the problem I am facing is similar to that. Is mobile internet access different from NOP? Thanks!

  36. Always check if you have full internet plan.

This means , with same access point , you should be able to browse internet on pc/laptop with your mobile as modem.

For airtel postpaid its rs 499/month plan.

  57. Hi guys,

For all those “Unable to Connect Messages”. I’ve earlier posted a reply to the problem being faced by many.

You’ll need to call Customer Care of your respected Operator and request them to activate the Mobile Internet plan wherein you are provided laptop connectivity.

While you will be able to surf the net through your default mobile browser i.e. WAP connectivity. So any 3rd Party Application (here fring) would require full GPRS to be active, just WAP will not be sufficient.

Do let me know if this solves your problem.

    Regards,
    Frazier.
