Find ME, Track ME; just with fringME! widget
We all know the world is getting smaller by the day and guess what we just managed to pull it a bit closer. We at fring believe that life is all about making online connections, be it through internet communities (forums), social networking, blogs, auction sites etc. Just so that you can stay connected with your buddies online (fringsters or not) we are proud to present fringME! Now your entire group of online buddies can reach you on your fring-enabled mobile handset from anywhere on the web.

Just paste the fringME! HTML code onto your own web pages, blogs, and pretty much anywhere you have an internet presence of your own – enabling community members or casual visitors to instantly see whether you’re online, offline, or busy in call and also chat with you.
You’ll in for a surprise? … Hold your breath (but not for too long :P) cause now your buddies can even view your location in real time via Google Maps i.e. if you own a GPS equipped handset.

To get your hands on your very own fringME! Widget >> visit the fringME! web page >> enter your details >> choose your preferred widget design >> paste a small piece of HTML code into your pages & your good to go.
Note: 1) Currently works only on Symbian 9.1 and 9.2 handsets. Also you’ll need to get the latest version of fring. (Download)
2) Privacy settings inside fring on your handset require you to switch on or switch off the fringME! location feature (you know, like ‘Opt in and out’… perfect for those occasions when you don’t want to be found!).
TRAI: Number Portability to be introduced
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India announced the implementation of Number Portability. This will enable mobile users to switch to any operator and at the same time still retain the same contact number. The TRAI has suggested a phased implementation of the Number Portability starting off with the metros and then the rest of the country. Though studies suggest implementation of Number Portability in a mature mobile market; looking on Netherlands with less than 10% mobile penetration TRAI feels this move will increase overall net benefits.
Given a choice “30% of mobile users will change their operator”. (Result from a study conducted by IDC) I’ve been hearing this from sometime now and so looking forward to change my operator. ![]()
Nokia N99; “GAME ON”???

Nokia is secretly working on an iPhone killer as I would put it. Here is the Nokia N99 which is a cell-phone + PDA + UMPC. It has a sliding QWERTY keypad which looks very similar to the slide out keypad seen in an HTC phone. But that’s not all, Nokia are working on a patent wherein the handset will have a numerical keypad as well. Click here for more.
