Say hello to Nokia XpressMusic 5800 in the New Year

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be available in January 2009. You can pre-book the handset through the few pre-booking channels if you wish to receive it earlier i.e. the 4th of January. The phone will hit retail stores on January 25 for the rest. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is the first full touch operated Symbian S60 5th Edition phone from Nokia. It will give us a glmipse of what the N97 has in store.

A quick round-up of the specs; it has a 3.2-inch touchscreen, an ARM 11 369MHz processor with 128MB of RAM to power the phone, comes bundled with an 8GB memory card and also Nokia’s ‘Comes with Music’ service. This music service will offer unlimited access to Nokia Music Store catalogue for one year.

The Nokia XpressMusic 5800 has been priced at Rs. 21,800. This puts it directly in competition with the HTC Touch Diamond, but we’ll have to wait and watch if it can really take on the Touch Diamond. If you wait to get a feel of the handset some select Nokia Priority Centers have the handset on display and also provide with a feel and functionality of the device.
