Google’s Mobile Maps is so “WOW”

Mashable.com recently Blogged about Google’s Mobile Maps.
It looked like a cool new mobile application so I though, hey why not download and give it a try.

I pointed my web browser to http://www.google.com/gmm
Followed the download link and within a minute was mobile mapping on what I can say is the greatest mobile mapping application I have ever used.

I was presently surprised at how easy the application downloaded and at what an amazing rate the screen refreshed during satellite imagery mode.

Possibly the best thing is the easy integration with GPS.

So fringsters if like me you dig new toys, pop onto http://www.google.com/gmm get Google’s latest and possibly greatest mobile app and start mapping.

1. Have you tried to zoom in any further? The Google Maps data is truly pathetic in my opinion. Don’t even try to find a neighbourhood street, they simply don’t exist according to Google. Mainly highways and major roads are visible. Rather try something like Map24.

4. Well, if you want a GPS software that works *without* any connection, please have a look at

   www.trekbuddy.net

   Works on nearly every phone with bluetooth and Java. Great for outdoor activities like hiking or geocaching! Or even when you visit a city you do not know..
   Maps are stored in .png format, so you can really put a lot of them on your storage card. Best of all, with the tools you can find in the forum *you* decide which maps you want to use. It´s also possible to create different “zoom stages” of maps, and you can switch between them.
