Nokia launches the 5800 XpressMusic codename Tube

Update: fring now supports the all new Nokia 5800 - Get it here.

Hot on the tail of handsets like the iPhone 3G and the HTC G1, Nokia announced yesterday the release the much awaited 5800 XpressMusic codenamed TUBE. The 5800 XpressMusic is the first handset running on Symbian S60 5th edition.

This sexy looking handsets comes with some great features including “3.2-inch haptic touch-screen, 3.2-megapixel AF camera with dual-LED flash, VGA front camera, A-GPS, HDSPA, and up to 16GB of storage via microSD” the features are so good that some in the industry have gone as far as calling the 5800 XpressMusic the “iPhone killer“. It sure sounds like a killer handset and we cant wait to welcome this baby to the fring family.

Sadly though there is still no news on when this handset will reach the South African market.

Does anyone know when this phone will arrive in South Africa. Ronan, you mention that you have the phone already. Where did you get it from?

simon says:

@Malesela

No word on when this handset will arrive in South Africa, I have heard rumors that it will be here during Q1 of 2009 but no hard evidence yet. The good news though is that fring is promising to support the 5800 very soon ;-)
