Nokia Announces Phones for Emerging Markets

Nokia has announced two new handsets, the Nokia 2600 Classic, and Nokia 1209. These phones are targeted towards penetration of mobile segment in “Emererging Markets”. The Nokia 2600 Classic offers fully customizable Xpress-on covers and MP3 ring tones support. It also has entertainment features like FM radio and VGA camera. The 2600 Classic has already begun shipping and retails for approximately 65 Euros (Rs 3,725), it’ll be available by the 1st quarter of this year. The Nokia 1209 on the otherhand is meant more for the novice mobile user. It offers cost management features, like prepaid tracker, and multiple phone book allowing up to five people store personal contacts of up to 200 numbers wach on the phone. The 1209 also features a one-piece key mat, dust resistance, and Nokia’s intuitive user interface (UI). The Nokia 1209 will be available during the 2nd quarter of this year, and will retail for approximately 35 Euros (Rs 2,000).
