Have your Jooce on the go
Every day more than 500 million people access the internet at cybercafes worldwide. For most of these people this is the only PC they will ever use. Data storage costs are extremely high for most of us and lets face it having to carry around DVD’s, CD’s and memory sticks gets frustrating and annoying to say the least.
Now a Luxembourg-based startup is giving us access to the unheard of “unlimited online storageâ€.
Founded by Stefan Surzycki “Jooce†offers us the functionality we would normally get from a personal computer, the difference is that we do not need to own a PC. The “Jooce desktop†can be accessed in 19 different languages from any internet connected PC, thus allowing us to access files, e-mail’s, instant messaging, storage and other applications via the internet from any location on earth.
During its first week of operation Jooce saw 60, 000 sign-ups, not only does it have the user numbers behind it, Jooce is also backed by Mangrove VC, the same firm that provided initial funding to Skype and with free unlimited data storage Jooce certainly looks like the best horse to back.
fringsters if you are in desperate need of some free, safe and easy to use parking for your data then this is a great place to start. Go get your free account today.
For those of us who love statistics, the fring team just received these stats from Jooce:
According to Stefan Surzycki “Jooce now clocks over 300, 000 logins per month, sends over 500, 000 Instant Messages per month and currently stores more than 1.2 Million files on the system,” not bad for a service that has only been running for a little over 2 months now.

[...] Just last week I came across Jooce, a Luxemburg based venture offering unlimited online storage for a free sign-up. Perhaps even more pertinent is humyo, a free online storage service (though in this case limited to 30GB) that is already tuned to work with mobile phones. [...]

I’d give jooce a miss. They either do not publish their terms and conditions or else they are very well hidden. I could NOT find them.
Their lack of instruction manual does not tell you how anything works or what it does. My question is can you trust them to secure your data? I trust the tooth fairy but I am not too sure about jooce.

Hi there
Thank you for your comment on the fring Blog.
I had a chat to the Jooce CEO (Stefan Surzycki) and together we have identified the error, their terms and conditions are actually located on the home page here’s the link: http://www.jooce.com/copyright.html the link is located on the bottom left hand corner of the page. It seems that for some reason the firefox web browser cuts the page short and so you can’t see it. If you press F11 you will see the remainder of the page including the terms link.
The Jooce team is looking into fixing this bug.
Thanx again for spotting it and for voicing your opinion, without people like yourself it would take us forever to find bugs. Keep up the good work and if you find any other bugs especially in the fring app please let me know.
Regards
Simon

I’m new to jooce and so far I haven’t been able to upload any files. I can’t log onto MSN threw jooce. I’m not impressed so far. I’ve tried emailing them the jooce team but haven’t gotten any response. Jooce seems like a great idea. Maybe someday they’ll fix it.

Can’t Upload Files Here Either…
Seems The System keeps having a “nervous breakdown”
well, according to the prompt that keeps popping up.
tried this with IE & firefox, both gave me the same thing.
So I figured maybe I have to activate my account or something, Checked my Email - (surprisingly not even a welcome message) Nothing.
Its not all to crucial to have, but would be a great thing to test out a recommend to several people I know who do need it.
(they need a manual to help out explaining stuff, tips are awesome… but sometimes you need a full explanation)
