SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is an IP telephony signaling protocol used to establish, modify and terminate VOIP telephone calls.

Why is SIP relevant to fringsters?
fring supports SIP, allowing you to easily make cheap mobile calls to landline and regular cell phone (GSM/CDMA) contacts using the SIP provider of your choice, even when your mobile phone doesn’t support SIP. fring’s easy-to-use interface allows you to simply login and logout of SIP services, giving you freedom to choose between providers for each “out” call, depending on the provider's’ features such as better quality or savings

The benefits of using SIP over fring
take your SIP accounts mobile!
make cheap calls to landline and regular mobile (GSM/CDMA) contacts over fring
make internet calls using any SIP provider, even if your mobile phone doesn’t support SIP
simple login and out of the SIP service
leverage different providers’ diverse features for each “VoIP-out” call

What do I need to run SIP on fring?
Apart from a mobile device running fring, you will need an account with a SIP provider. Choose one already located on the fring application, or choose from hundreds of other providers. See our partner page for more information.
