New version for iPhone/iPod touch

Hello fringsters,

We’ve just released a new version to the App Store (3.0.0.7). This is a small maintenance release for a better fring experience on your iPhone & iPod touch.

Main features:

- Video quality improvements
- Bug fixes
- New video test call

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your great feedback and kind words about the recently released video feature. We’ll keep on working to improve it and bring more features, coming early next year.

Enjoy,

The fring Team

Any ETA on landscape typing for Fring on iPhone? It really is a great app, but this is one little thing that is missing that keeps it from being perfect.

When would you allow fring users to send DTMF tones during a call? In almost 2 years since I came to know about fring, I have been looking forward to it.

It’d be great to see a way to open a browser session within the Fring iPhone app. Right now I have no way to make calls with Google Voice + Gizmo5 + Fring without a computer because I have to exit Fring and open Safari to initiate the call, and by the time I’ve gotten Fring open again either GV or G5 has given up trying to connect to the SIP handset.

Yes, a landscape mode would make it faster and easier to write something on the iPhone. I want, too!

    Thanks for the great update!
HOWEVER, this is a bug in the voice chat feature! When calling a computer over msn, an advertisment for fring.com/mobile comes up and the voice chat is deisconnected.

    PLEASE FIX THIS VERY SOON!

I tried it today from my iPhone 3GS to a friends iPhone 3GS. He can see me but I can’t see him, my phone says no front camera detected. I’m running 4.0.1 and he is running 3.1.3. We tried multiple times over 3G and Wifi. Same problem. Any suggestions? And one more question is the video calling working on iPhone 3G?
I also called a friend from my 3GS on his evo4 and the video call worked two ways.

    Tom Reply:

fring on OS 3 does not support 2-way video calling. Tell your buddy to upgrade to iOS 4.
